Once ChatGPT is connected, you can ask it to set up your storefront, create products, add cover images and publish your changes. Setup takes about five minutes, and you only need to do it once.
Before you start
- An Oak Store account. Sign in at myoak.store in this browser before you begin.
- A ChatGPT account where Developer mode and Plugins are available.
- The connection address:
https://myoak.store/api/mcp
One thing to know first
Step 1. Turn on Developer mode
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and scroll to Developer mode. Switch it on.

Leave Enforce CSP in developer mode and the other switches unchanged.
Step 2. Open Plugins and add a new one
In ChatGPT's left sidebar, open Plugins. Then select the + button next to the search box.

Step 3. Fill in the connection
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | My Oak Store |
| Description | My Oak Store MCP integration — optional |
| Connection | Server URL |
| Server URL | https://myoak.store/api/mcp |
| Authentication | OAuth |
Do not change Advanced OAuth settings. ChatGPT gets those details from the server address. Tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create.

Step 4. Allow access
Oak Store now asks whether ChatGPT can manage your storefront. Check that the screen names chatgpt.com, then select Allow. If Oak Store asks you to sign in, sign in first. The permission screen will then return.

Step 5. Install My Oak Store
Open your personal Plugins page in ChatGPT. Select My Oak Store, then select the + button to install it.
ChatGPT confirms that My Oak Store is installed.

Step 6. Check it worked
Return to the ChatGPT home page and switch from Chat to Work.
Start a new Work chat. In the message box, type @ and select My Oak Store. Then ask it to check your storefront:
Use My Oak Store to tell me my storefront name, address and number of products.
ChatGPT should return your store name, store address and product count.

What you can ask for
Setting up — “Create a storefront called One Person Business Practice.” · “Is the store address 1pcbiz free?” · “What's left before I can publish?”
Products — “Create a paid product called Focus Reset Kit for $12, here's the description…” · “Change the price to $9.” · “Rewrite the description so it's shorter.”
Files — “Use this image as the cover.” If the image is larger than 300 KB, ChatGPT gives you an upload link. Open the link in your browser and choose the image.
Policies — “Draft my terms, privacy and refund policies using my business name and contact email.” You review them before they go live.
Publishing — “Show me the preview.” · “Publish it.” · “Take it off my storefront.”
What it can't do
ChatGPT cannot manage your payouts or bank details, see who bought from you, issue refunds or delete a storefront. Use the Oak Store dashboard for those actions.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT says it cannot reach the server | Check that the address is exactly https://myoak.store/api/mcp. It should not have a trailing slash or include www. |
| No permission screen appears | You may be signed out of Oak Store. Open myoak.store in the same browser, sign in, then add the plugin again. |
| ChatGPT says you need to sign in | The connection has expired. Remove My Oak Store from ChatGPT, then add it again. |
| ChatGPT answers from memory instead of checking your store | Add “use My Oak Store” to your message, or start a new chat. |
| Your changes are not on your public page | Publishing is a separate step. Ask ChatGPT to publish, then reload your public page. |
| ChatGPT stops part way through several changes | You have reached the limit of 60 changes per minute. Wait one minute, then continue. |
An error mentioning Too Many Requests or 429 while adding the plugin | You have added and removed the connection several times in a row. Wait ten minutes, then add it again. |
Removing the connection
Open Plugins in ChatGPT, find My Oak Store and remove it. This removes ChatGPT's access. It does not delete your storefront, products or sales.
