The download is the product someone will actually use. Give it the same care as the page that introduces it, starting with the first thing a reader sees.
Give it a clear start
Use a descriptive filename and an opening title that match the product page. Add a short explanation of who the file helps and where to begin. If it contains several parts, explain the order. Remove any internal notes, temporary text, and references that only make sense to you.
Check the experience
Open the final file on another device. Read the small text, follow each link, and try any fields the reader needs to complete. For a printable resource, check a printed page if you can. Explain any required software in the product description so someone can decide whether the file fits their setup.
Hand it to someone
Ask a person to try the opening instruction without a spoken explanation from you. Notice where they pause. Add a worked example or revise a label when needed, then export and reopen the final version. Confirm the exact file you intend to upload contains those corrections, rather than an earlier draft with a similar name.
